Intern Architect
Reporting to:
Project Manager / Project Architect
Responsibilities:
- Understand required aspects of the client brief and design direction as established by the principal-in-charge
- Assist the Project Manager / Project Architect in developing required drawings, models, images and other documents relating to the design
- Assist and further advance the design direction as directed by the Project Manager / Project Architect
- Attend, where required, project design and construction stage team meetings, record meeting minutes, and assist the Project Manager / Project Architect with required follow-through tasks
- Assist the project lead with necessary materials research, construction systems, and any necessary project informational requirements
- Develop knowledge and experience in contract construction drawings and specifications; advance skills in CAD/3D systems pertinent to this objective
- Seek and record evidence of, continuing professional development as required by NCARB’s Intern Development Program (IDP)
- Contribute and otherwise assist, as required
Qualities and Skills Required:
- A Bachelor or Masters Degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture or equivalent
- Able to demonstrate the ability to undertake the above responsibilities
- Candidate must be able to take direction from the project manager in charge of the project and manage assignments in an organized and efficient manner
- Good communication skills: written and verbal
- Proficiency in any major CAD or BIM application (min. 2-year experience)
- Proficiency in 3D modeling software: SketchUp or Rhino
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word or Google Documents
- Effective drawing skills
- Punctual and reliable
- Flexible Attitude
- Good soft-skills and emotional intelligence
Desirable:
- Experience using Nemetschek Vectorworks Architect CAD/BIM software
- Experience using Autodesk Revit software
- Experience using SketchUp, Rhino, formZ or other 3D modeling software, including renderers
- Experience using Bluebeam or Bluebeam Cloud
- Experience using online project management tools: Procore, BuilderTrend, ACC
- Ability to use some of the following: AutoCAD, Photoshop, InDesign, PowerPoint, Pages, Numbers, Google Documents
- Experience with both Windows and MacOS computers
