SUMMARY

The Finance Manager is a key management leader of the Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Center (CIVOC). The Finance Manager is responsible for all financial management processes within the organization. The Finance Manager reports directly to the Executive Director.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Management:

  1. Oversee the overall Finance and accounting operations of the organization. Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  2. Ensure that appropriate and accurate financial books and records are maintained and that such books and records are closed in accordance with the established annual reporting schedule.
  3. Prepare financial statements and reports, including budget preparation, monitoring, and forecasting.
    1. Reporting to include monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Reports
    2. Provide required reports to the Executive Director and assist in the work of the Board Finance Committee as scheduled.
  4. Manage cash flow and ensure compliance with all financial regulations and debt covenants.
  5. Coordinate external audits, conduct research on open questions or issues, and respond promptly to the external audit partner to ensure compliance. Keep the Executive Director informed of all such matters of significance.
  6. Supervise and mentor accounting staff; stay current on the latest accounting trends, rules, and government regulations affecting non-profits.
  7. Develop and document a system of Enterprise Risk Management
  8. Report immediately to the Executive Director and Treasurer if a significant risk issue or internal control breach occurs. If possible, provide a solution or recommendations for any such issue.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • Five or more years of nonprofit accounting experience
  • Transparent and high-integrity leadership
  • Experience in budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
  • Strong organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Ability to convey a vision of CIVOC’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, the community, and donors.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Strong public speaking ability

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

Working Environment: Additional weekend and evening work hours may be required to participate in meetings and events.
