Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, mission‑driven Program Director to lead our resident‑centered programming. The Program Director will oversee all aspects of our educational and self‑development programming, provide high‑quality coaching and case management support, supervise one program department staff member, and strengthen partnerships that advance resident well‑being and community life at Bethany Hill Place.
This is an on‑site, full‑time (40 hours/week), exempt position based in Framingham, MA. The salary range is $72,000–$85,000 per year , commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates who meet or exceed all preferred qualifications (including 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or program management leadership role, 3+ years of experience working directly with clients/students, and an advanced degree such as an MSW or related field) may be considered for the upper portion of the range; candidates with comparable strengths in some, but not all, of these areas are still encouraged to apply.
About Bethany Hill Place
An independent non-sectarian 501c3 organization established by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1994, Bethany Hill Place combines affordable housing with programming for low-income individuals and families facing homelessness. In addition to providing the security of a home, the organization works to ensure residents have access to the tools and resources they need to achieve greater stability.
Bethany Hill Place is dedicated to disrupting the cycle of generational poverty by empowering individuals as agents of change in their lives. In an asset-building environment grounded in responsive relationships, the organization annually provides 120 adult and child residents with not only a roof over their heads, but also the guidance and support to move confidently toward stability and positive life outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
· In support of BHP’s mission, provide leadership for resident programming, including planning, coordinating, and evaluating educational, self‑development, and community‑building programs and activities in collaboration with the Program Manager and other staff.
· Offer a consistent, trauma‑informed coaching and counseling presence to residents through 1:1 support, active listening, goal‑setting, and referrals to community resources.
· Supervise, coach, and support the Program Manager and other program staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative, accountable, and mission‑aligned team culture.
· Oversee youth and family programming, including after‑school clubs, summer programming, and leadership initiatives for older youth, ensuring programs are responsive to resident needs and feedback.
· Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners, service providers, schools, and other organizations to enhance opportunities and resources for residents.
· Collaborate with residents and the Board of Trustees, as appropriate, to shape programming that promotes education, stability, and community.
· Lead program budgeting and stewardship of grant funds and scholarship resources in collaboration with the Executive Director, ensuring alignment with funder requirements and organizational priorities.
· Ensure effective internal communication with residents about programming and opportunities, including coordination of translation and accessible formats.
· Track participation, outcomes, and mission effectiveness data; use this information to inform continuous improvement and support reporting to funders and stakeholders.
Qualifications
· Advanced degree in social work, counseling, education, human services, or a related field (MSW or similar) preferred; bachelor’s degree required.
· 3+ years of experience providing case management, coaching, or counseling in a community‑based, housing, human services, or education setting preferred.
· 3+ years of experience in a supervisory or program management leadership role , including direct supervision, coaching, and development of staff and/or volunteers preferred.
· Demonstrated professionalism and success designing, delivering, and evaluating programs that support individuals and families pursuing educational, employment, or stability‑related goals.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, respond constructively to feedback, and collaborate effectively across teams and perspectives.
· Strong skills in building trust and rapport with people of diverse ages, cultures, and backgrounds; comfort serving as an advocate and liaison for Bethany Hill Place.
· Experience collaborating with community partners, schools, or service providers to coordinate services and supports.
· Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and basic data tracking tools; willingness to learn additional systems as needed.
· Ability to work some evenings and occasional weekends to support resident programming and community events.
· Bilingual English/Spanish is a strong plus.
Former residents and individuals with lived experience relevant to the Bethany Hill Place community are encouraged to apply. Because this position involves supervising and providing case-management support to residents, the Program Director must be able to maintain clear professional boundaries and avoid potential conflicts of interest within the residential community. Accordingly, individuals serving in this role may not concurrently reside at Bethany Hill Place.
