Position SummaryThe Production Assembler builds and tests electronic products and subassemblies by following written work instructions, drawings, and quality standards. This role supports safe, efficient production by performing accurate assembly work, identifying defects, and maintaining a clean, organized workstation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assemble electronic products and subassemblies using hand tools and fixtures (e.g., screwdrivers, torque tools, crimpers, cutters, wire strippers).
- Perform wiring, cable preparation, and connector installation per specifications; route and dress wires to workmanship standards.
- Read and follow work orders, bills of materials, assembly drawings, schematics (as applicable), and written work instructions.
- Conduct in-process and final inspections (visual and functional) and document results as required.
- Operate basic test equipment as trained (e.g., multimeter, continuity tester, power supplies) and record data.
- Identify nonconforming material, defects, or process issues; communicate concerns to the supervisor/quality team and segregate suspect product.
- Maintain accurate production records (paper or electronic) including travelers, lot traceability, and time/quantity reporting.
- Support 5S/lean activities by keeping the workstation clean, organized, and stocked with required materials.
- Follow safety rules, ESD requirements, and all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support production needs.
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 1+ years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment (electronic assembly preferred).
- Ability to follow detailed written instructions and work to standard processes.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and proficiency using hand tools.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistent attention to detail and quality.
- Basic math skills and ability to measure accurately (rulers/calipers as applicable).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with coworkers and leadership.
- Ability to comply with ESD, safety, and quality requirements.
- Experience with IPC workmanship standards (e.g., IPC-A-610) and/or J-STD soldering standards.
- Soldering experience (through-hole and/or surface-mount) and rework/repair experience.
- Experience building harnesses, cable assemblies, and crimping to manufacturer specifications.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and electronic work instructions.
- Experience working in a regulated environment (ISO 9001 or similar).
- Forklift/pallet jack experience (if applicable to the role).
- Work is typically performed in a production/manufacturing environment.
- Requires frequent standing or sitting, repetitive hand motions, and fine motor dexterity.
- May require lifting and/or moving materials up to 25–40 lbs (adjust to your needs).
- Requires ability to see small components/markings (with corrective lenses if needed).
- Must be able to wear required PPE and comply with ESD controls.
- Overtime may be required based on business needs.
