Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (PE) to join our growing team. This individual will lead electrical system design for building projects, mentor junior staff, and serve as a key technical resource within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of electrical systems including:
- Power distribution
- Lighting and lighting controls
- Fire alarm systems
- Low voltage systems (data, telecom, security)
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and reports
- Perform load calculations, short circuit, and coordination studies
- Coordinate designs with internal MEP/FP teams and external stakeholders
- Attend client meetings, site visits, and construction coordination meetings
- Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs
- Mentor and oversee junior engineers and designers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited preferred)
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (MA & RI or ability to obtain via reciprocity)
- 5–15+ years of experience in MEP/FP consulting or building systems design
- Strong knowledge of NEC, energy codes, and industry standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
- Experience with SKM, ETAP, or similar analysis software preferred
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience with K-12, higher education, or municipal projects
- Familiarity with Massachusetts building codes and energy stretch codes
- LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience
