About the Organization:

The Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum, which is owned and operated by Egan Maritime, was established in 1968 and is America's first museum dedicated to honoring lifesavers. It preserves the legacy of Islanders who risked their lives to rescue mariners, featuring inspiring stories from the Massachusetts Humane Society, the US Life-Saving Service, and the Coast Guard.

  • Work effectively as part of an interpretive team with other Museum Guides, volunteers, and Egan Maritime staff members.
  • Assist with set up and breakdown for museum programming and activity stations.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Community Relations & Visitor Experience or the Museum Manager on Duty.

Qualifications/Education:

  • An interest in Nantucket’s maritime history and a desire and willingness to learn both in a group setting and individually (training and materials will be provided).
