Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant
3p-11p and 11p-7a shift available
Department: Nursing
Specific Requirements:
- Completion of state-approved C.N.A. training program.
- Current Massachusetts C.N.A. Certification in good standing.
- New graduates of the MA-approved C.N.A. training program may be employed pending completion of Certification testing within the first four months of employment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Able to read, write, and speak English in a legible and understandable manner.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs tasks according to daily written assignments. (Lead CNA will make.)
- Follows all policies and nursing care procedures as instructed and assigned.
- Reports unusual resident observations, changes in condition, accidents or incidents, or emergencies to the nurse.
- Observe the Resident Rights policy and follow HIPPA regulations for confidentiality.
- Treats all residents fairly, and with kindness, dignity and respect, and sensitivity and empathy for resident physical and emotional needs.
- Reports suspected or observed resident abuse as mandated by the Abuse Statute.
- Provides direct resident care as identified in each resident Care Plan to include, bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, eating, toileting, range of motion, and other forms of assistance with activities of daily living. After patients ADL’s are completed, those patients are everyone’s responsibility.
- Follows policies and procedures for infection control and follows Standard Precautions
- Cares for residents’ rooms and belongings to maintain a safe and neat environment.
- Every C.N.A. answers resident call lights as promptly as feasible. Keeps call bell within reach.
- Every C.N.A. will make sure their PCC and repositioning sheets are done at the end of every shift.
- Observe all measures for resident safety including fall risk assessment, elopement potential, procedures for assisting with transfer, lifting, ambulation, and other measures as indicated in the care plan.
- Assists in transportation of residents within the nursing home and may include accompanying residents to appointments outside the nursing home.
- Develops and maintains good relationships with co-workers, residents, family members, and visitors following customer service guidelines.
- Supports and participates in, and helps to promote teamwork, cooperation, and a positive work environment.
- Reports to work as scheduled, reports to work on time, and follows the Nursing Department Staffing/Scheduling policy to include unit/shift re-assignments as necessary.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Follows all policies and procedures of Penacook Place.
- Maintains current C.N.A. certification, in good standing, to include completion of twelve (12) hours of continuing education per year.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
- Able to push/pull up to 40 pounds.
- Able to stand up to six hours daily.
- Able to kneel
- Able to walk.
- Able to bend, kneel, and squat to floor level.
- Able to reach heights of five feet.
- Able to move intermittently.
- Able to see and hear, with or without the use of prostheses.
- Able to cope with the physical and mental job stress.
