Foreground Capital is a San Francisco and Boston-based venture capital firm investing in early-stage women’s health companies, making care more accessible, affordable, and equitable. The team has built one of the largest dedicated women’s health venture portfolios.
The Foreground team has over 50 years of combined experience across finance, clinical medicine, and venture capital. The firm manages two dozen portfolio companies transforming healthcare for more than half a million women across the country. The team is currently raising and deploying out of its third fund, launched in 2025. For the last several years, the team has been named by Impact Assets as an IA 50 Impact Manager.

Chief of Staff The Chief of Staff will play a key role in the full spectrum of day-to-day fund management and operations. The position will provide significant opportunities to work with and support the investment team, interact with partners, including portfolio companies and limited partners, and learn all aspects of running a venture fund. The Chief of Staff will regularly interact with the growing women’s health ecosystem and its various players.As part of a small team, this is a unique opportunity to work with a passionate group of professionals and learn all aspects of managing and growing a venture capital firm. While the role will not focus directly on investments, there will be opportunities to learn about the venture capital investment process, including deal sourcing, due diligence, structuring terms and portfolio management.
Responsibilities The Chief of Staff should apply sound, independent judgment and discretion to handle a broad range of fund operations and management responsibilities that include: Financial Management & Investor Coordination- Support fund administration (Vector), including capital calls and distributions. Coordinate with Fund CFO and COO
- Manage monthly expenses of American Express corporate cards, including receipt management and expense tracking
- Handle investor inquiries for K-1s, updating contacts, reporting and other requests
Mission-Aligned Marketing & Communications
- Work with the Communications team to manage marketing and communications for the fund’s various stakeholders (investors, prospective investors, portfolio companies, others)
- Support LinkedIn posts, monthly newsletters, emails and other ongoing communications
- Provide graphic design support for internal and external communications
- Oversee updating of the fund’s website (WordPress)
- Help coordinate and manage annual impact tracking and reporting of portfolio companies
- Coordinate with portfolio companies for quarterly and annual reporting
- Assist with fundraising materials, including updating the Pitch Deck, Data Room and other requests
- Research investor prospects and manage CRM records
Event Planning & Management
- Organize annual investor gatherings/meetings
- Coordinate portfolio gatherings and events
- Plan and execute fundraising events with LPs
- Manage logistics for team off-sites
Administrative Management
- Manage calendar and meeting coordination for the entire team
- Process legal, insurance, and compliance documentation
- Source candidates and manage recruitment and onboarding for Interns
- Manage office operations, company files, software/system administration and vendor relationships
- Manage office space and facilities needs
- Manage CRM and automation for deal tracking, investor fundraising, investor syndications for portfolio companies and community/service support function
- Lead special projects to improve firm efficiency and scalability
- Support the investment team with deal logistics
- Assist with other projects as needed
Required Qualifications
- Interest in women’s health and innovation
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, finance, or a related field
- 3-5 years of operations experience, preferably in financial services, consulting or a startup, wearing many hats
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities
- Strong proficiency with Google Drive and Microsoft suite (Excel and PowerPoint)
- Technically savvy with an interest in new tools and apps to automate processes
- Comfortable with ambiguity and excited to build
- Either San Francisco or Boston resident required; willing to co-locate with the team in a hybrid work environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of venture capital fund operations and investment processes
- Familiarity with Affinity CRM system and financial databases
- Experience with impact measurement and reporting
- Graphic design experience or training
- Event planning experience
Salary Range: $75,000 to $100,000
