Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) - Adult Psych provides compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adult psychiatric patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting. This role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individualized patient care, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment that promotes recovery and well-being. The RN serves as a clinical leader on the unit, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams and supervising assigned staff to deliver high-quality mental health care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to adult psychiatric patients, ensuring adherence to treatment plans and safety protocols.

  • Assess patient needs, document care plans, and monitor progress throughout the course of treatment.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments while observing for side effects and therapeutic outcomes.

  • Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and support staff to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with facility and regulatory standards.

  • Supervise and delegate tasks to support staff, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.

  • Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary, maintaining a calm and safe environment.

  • Support unit initiatives for quality improvement, safety, and clinical competency.

  • Serve as a professional role model, mentor, and advocate for the discipline of nursing.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Graduate of a state-approved or accredited school of nursing.

  • Licensure:

    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts (or eligibility to obtain).

  • Certifications:

    • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required.

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience, preferably in adult psychiatric or behavioral health settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing (BSN/MSN) preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking abilities.

    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to maintain composure in high-stress or crisis situations.
