POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Think Tank is a woman-owned small business with more than 27 years of proven success delivering exceptional IT and marine fisheries services to the federal government. We are currently seeking an ideal candidate for the position of Ecologist to support an upcoming proposal with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Résumé of successful candidate(s) will be included with our proposal.
The Ecologist supports the study of protected species by analyzing their ecological relationships, behavior, and habitat use. This role integrates field research, statistical modeling, and data synthesis to inform conservation and management decisions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop models to assess ecological relationships, habitat use, and anthropogenic impacts.
- Analyze multi-source datasets including acoustic, visual, environmental, and telemetry data.
- Participate in field surveys and biological sampling for marine species.
- Support scientific writing, peer-reviewed publications, and outreach.
- Contribute to database management and GIS/spatial analysis efforts.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in ecology, environmental science, or related discipline.
- Experience with statistical modeling, data analysis, and fieldwork.
- Proficiency in GIS, R, and/or Python; knowledge of AI/ML is beneficial.
- Understanding of species conservation frameworks and environmental policies.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work in remote settings.
