Psychology Intern

POSITION SUMMARY : There are four primary of objectives for the position of Intern in Psychology at the Center for Multicultural Training in Psychology (CMTP). While training in CMTP the intern will: (1) receive supervised experiences in traditional psychological techniques appropriately modified for working cross-culturally with socially, economically and politically disadvantaged clients; (2) increase his/her knowledge of and sensitivity to aspects of behavior associated with cross-cultural and transcultural experiences which are involved in mental health, mental illness and recovery; (3) develop and achieve the highest level of proficiency in those skills traditionally associated with the profession of psychology; and, (4) train in the culturally competent practice of professional psychology consistent with the APA scientist-practitioner model. Interns are required to work a five-day workweek. This consists of 1-2 days per week in an outpatient setting, 2-3 days per week in an inpatient setting and 1 day per week for didactic seminars and primary supervision at CMTP. Interns spend a minimum of 50 hours per week per week in training.
