Beit Sefer Director

Falmouth Jewish Congregation (FJC) is a vibrant, egalitarian Reform congregation located on Cape Cod. With approximately 325 member families, the congregation currently has 25 students in elementary school and 10 post b’nai mitzvah youth in our supplementary religious school that meets Sunday mornings and after school one day a week.

The Beit Sefer Director leads the vision and day-to-day operations of Falmouth Jewish Congregation’s youth education programs, including Hebrew and Judaica learning for students in pre-kindergarten through high school. Partnering closely with the Rabbi, staff, and families, this role fosters a joyful, engaging, and meaningful Jewish learning environment.

Educational Leadership

  • Shape and implement a vibrant, modern educational vision that inspires Jewish identity and lifelong learning
  • Develop and adapt an experiential, age-appropriate curriculum (Hebrew, holidays, prayer, and Jewish values)
  • Ensure an inclusive program that supports diverse learners
  • Track student progress and engagement

Staff Leadership

  • Hire, mentor, and support teachers and teen assistants (madrichim)
  • Provide ongoing feedback and professional development
  • Build a collaborative, positive team culture

Operations & Administration

  • Oversee scheduling, school events, and the annual calendar
  • Manage enrollment, registration, and family outreach
  • Develop and monitor the program budget
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming environment in line with synagogue policies

Family & Community Engagement

  • Communicate regularly and warmly with families
  • Create meaningful family education and holiday experiences
  • Develop post–b’nai mitzvah teen programming (social, service, leadership)
  • Connect students and families to broader synagogue life

Qualifications

  • 3–10 years in Jewish education, including leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in Jewish Education or related field preferred
  • Experience with youth education and teaching diverse learning styles desired
  • Strong knowledge of Hebrew, Jewish traditions, and practice
  • Creative, collaborative, and empathetic leadership style
  • Comfortable with educational technology (e.g., Google Workspace, ShulCloud)

Schedule & Availability

  • Part-time, salaried (~20 hours/week during school year; ~10 hours/week in summer)
  • In-person Sundays and some evenings required
  • Flexible remote/hybrid work outside program hours
