Mortgage Banking Originator
Status: Exempt/Officer
Pay Grade: 9E
Salary Range:$75,000 base plus commission
Salary range updated 2/26/2026. Actual compensation within the pay range will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location.
Location: Wellesley Hills, MA
Principal Objective
This position is responsible for soliciting and servicing a variety of residential mortgage loans. Interview applicants, collect financial data and documents, and make recommendations regarding the loan products that best meet the borrowers needs. Assist buyers in the purchase process through closing.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and expand internal and external referral sources to grow mortgage business.

Work closely with borrower(s) to secure all required information and loan documentation required for underwriting.

Submit applications and supporting documentation consistent with all state and federal regulatory and compliance guidelines.

Provide ongoing communication and updates to borrower(s) on the status of their loan request.

Provide all follow-up documentation as requested by underwriting/processing within a timely manner.

Follow up on all conditions to ensure timely loan closings and rates lock expirations are satisfied.

Cross-sell other bank products and work with appropriate business partners to deepen banking relationship.

Work to meet the credit needs of the communities the Bank serves, including helping low- to moderate-income residents acquire and remain in affordable housing.

Cultivate and maintain relationships with branch personnel within lending area.

Regular semi-weekly branch visit to assigned offices.
Job Specifications (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required)

Bachelors degree preferred.
-
Minimum of 5 years experience in mortgage originations with a well-developed client base.

Extensive knowledge of various loan products and portfolio lending.
-
Knowledge of Universal Underwriting Guidelines.

Extensive knowledge of mortgage application procedures including disclosures, LE, CD, TIL, HMDA and RESPA requirements.

Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent sales and consulting skills.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Accuracy and attention to detail.

PC literate (Word, Excel, e-mail and Internet) and ability to access and use online mortgage banking tools (credit bureaus, investor website, etc.)
