Research Technician

Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Boston, MA

Overview

The Walensky laboratory of cancer chemical biology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School is seeking an energetic, efficient, and resourceful Research Technician interested in gaining experience under a principal investigator who serves as a physician, scientist, and educator.

Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. We are united in our mission of conquering cancer, HIV/AIDS, and related diseases. We strive to create an inclusive, diverse, and equitable environment where we provide compassionate and comprehensive care to patients of all backgrounds, and design programs to promote public health particularly among high-risk and underserved populations. We conduct groundbreaking research that advances treatment, we educate tomorrow's physician/researchers, and we work with amazing partners, including other Harvard Medical School-affiliated hospitals.

Specific research duties will include experimentation in a variety of areas spanning chemistry, biochemistry, and cancer cell biology. Responsibilities could include ligand binding analyses, protein production and purification, assays on cells, purified organelles, and cell lysates. The primary area of research focus is deregulated cell death and transcriptional pathways in cancer, with a major interest in overcoming chemoresistance through the development and application of novel chemical tools and prototype therapeutics.

The successful candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong interest in laboratory-based research. They will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, follow protocols precisely, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment. The ideal candidate will be a motivated team player with strong written and verbal communication skills, basic computer and data-management proficiency, excellent interpersonal skills, and the capacity to work independently under guidance while contributing effectively to an interdisciplinary research team

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related field
