Community Nutrition Access Specialist
Growing Places (GP) is a local non-profit organization focusing on food access and building a stronger local food system in the North Central Massachusetts region. The Community Nutrition Access Specialist (CNAS) is a full-time position that specializes in supporting the 27 NCMA communities’ nutrition and wellbeing through access to nourishing, local food. This includes overseeing our Produce Home Delivery program that is nutritionally tailored based on individual household preferences, culture, and health needs, as well as implementing the program’s related intake and enrollment via DTA contract, credit/debit application, or healthcare referral. The specialist will work directly with Growing Places’ packing team, with clients, and with healthcare professionals. They will have a deep understanding of nutrition benefit programs, including but not limited to SNAP and the MA Healthy Incentive Program.
Position Responsibilities
Produce Delivery Program Intake & Customer Service
· Process and file all new intake forms for distribution programs into the client database
· Batch submit SNAP/HIP produce delivery applications to the DTA monthly
· Work with the GP Data Administrator to ensure new clients are integrated into delivery routes
· Generate accurate weekly customer lists to support Distribution Team operations
· Lead the GP team in the annual SNAP/HIP Produce Delivery program re-enrollment process
· Log and respond to all customer inquiries to the point of resolution
· Maintain customer relationships from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences
· Conduct SNAP enrollment and SNAP recertification
Distribution and Community Outreach Oversight
· Oversee the GP Packing Team in executing twice weekly packing shifts, ensuring systems are working and clients are receiving the best customer experience
· Work with GP aggregation, receiving, processing and distribution team leads to align the Produce Delivery program with seasonality and value-added food production, including menu cycle development
· Oversee GPs Food As Medicine program, including collaborations with healthcare and insurance providers
· Oversee GP’s Community Outreach program
· Manage GP’s SNAP/HIP vendor compliance
· Generate quantitative reports in support of grant reporting
· Other related duties as assigned
Location: Based in Gardner, MA at Growing Places’ Waterford St. Regional Food Center
Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Systems and Impact Director
Requirements
The ideal candidate will excel in the following skills and experience:
· Nutritionist, Registered Dietitian, or related experience will be considered
· Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
· Passion for local food systems and their impact on community health
· Strong people and customer service skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a growing team
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including basic Excel skills
· Knowledge of North Central MA communities a plus!
Benefits
Hourly Requirements and Wage: Full - time Salaried Position with Benefits - $57,000 to $60,000 per year commensurate with experience.
Benefits: Eligible for Employee SIMPLE IRA, Pro-rated Vacation, Holiday and Sick Time, after 90 days of employment.
