Psychiatric RN Job Details

• Job Title: Locum Tenens Psychiatric Registered Nurse (Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health)
• Location: 24 Morrill Place, Amesbury, MA 01913 (North Shore, Massachusetts)
• Healthcare Setting: Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Unit
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel/Contract RN job)
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• End Date: November 24, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Nursing Shift: Evenings, 4x8-hour shifts per week (3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend required
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,070 - $2,130 per week
• Patient Population: Pediatrics & Adolescents (Ages 5-18)
• Unit Size: 16 beds (current census typically 12)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Massachusetts RN license (permanent license required at submission)
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric nursing experience (child and adolescent psychiatric RN experience preferred)
• BLS (CPR) certification
• Avade Level 3 de-escalation and restraint training (provided upon hire)
• Experience with electronic medical records (Allscripts/Sunrise EMR preferred)
• Strong clinical skills in critical thinking, multitasking, and de-escalation
• Ability to serve as charge nurse as needed
• Must pass drug screening (no exceptions for medical marijuana)
• COVID-19 vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)

Psychiatric Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide direct psychiatric nursing care to children and adolescents with mental health diagnoses (mood disorders, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, ADHD, trauma-related conditions)
• Administer medications (PO, IM, IV, SC, etc.) and monitor for adverse reactions
• Participate in de-escalation, seclusion, and restraint protocols as needed
• Deliver psychoeducation and support to patients and families
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members (social services, pharmacy, radiology)
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the EMR
• Serve as charge RN when assigned, coordinating patient care and unit workflow
• Promote a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients and staff
