Elms College, located in Chicopee, MA, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-trackAssistant Professor of Social Work position. This faculty role reports to the Social'WorkProgram Director within the Social Sciences Division of the School of Arts, Sciences, andProfessional Programs. The position primarily focuses on the undergraduate (BSW) program,with some responsibilities in the graduate (MSV/) program.

The faculty member is responsible for actively participating in all aspects of community(teaching, scholarship, and service) in alignment with the faculty handbook. They also contributeto the governance and organization of the program, including academic planning, curriculumdevelopment and review, student academic advising, and program enhancement.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaches four (4) courses per semester across the undergraduate Social Workgeneralist curriculum.
  • Provides academic advising for traditional and degree-completion students.
  • Acts as a primary liaison between the main campus and off-campus programming.
  • Leads in training, supporting, and mentoring adjunct faculty in the Social Work program.
  • Participates actively in Social Work committees, programs, admissions events,and activities.
  • Partners in the review of curriculum, syllabi, and program assessment.
  • Engages actively in committee work in the governance of the College.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a vibrant field education program.
  • Adheres to College and system policies and procedures as indicated in the facultyhandbook, college policies, and in other regulatory-applicable documents.
  • Demonstrates commitment to recruiting, supporting, and empowering diversesocial work students.
  • Contributes to the evaluation of student academic achievement and otherevaluative processes of the College.
  • Assists the Social Work Program Director with administrative tasks as needed andappointed.
  • Upholds, promotes, and demonstrates behaviors consistent with the mission andcore values of the College (Faith, Community, Justice, and Excellence)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MSW from a Council on Social Work Education-accredited program; an eamed doctoratein Social Work or related field is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the college/university level required, and experiencein web-based course delivery and instructional technology is a plus.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of social work experience, with strong experience insupporting diverse populations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work flexibly within a high-paced workingenvironment.
  • Knowledge of CSV/E EPAS and related standards
