Supervisor, Pharmacy RPh
Overview
The Pharmacy Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the Y5 infusion pharmacy to ensure high-quality patient care is provided in compliance with regulations, hospital policies, and standard operating procedures. This role is responsible for coordinating daily workflow, managing staffing schedules, and supporting process improvements and quality assurance initiatives. The Pharmacy Supervisor provides supervision, mentorship, and leadership to pharmacy staff, ensuring ongoing training and competencies are maintained. Serving as a role model and mentor, the Pharmacy Supervisor fosters a collaborative work environment focused on excellence in patient care.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily pharmacy operations to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and Institute standards regarding medication storage, preparation, and dispensing, as applicable.
- Coordinate daily workflow and staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage to meet patient care needs.
- Provide supervision, mentorship, and leadership to pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff, encouraging excellence in work habits and customer service.
- Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new pharmacy staff members; ensure ongoing training and competencies are maintained.
- Identify, triage, and resolve operational issues related to pharmacy services, including addressing patient concerns and medication safety.
- Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to implement process improvements and quality assurance initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations including USP as applicable, and departmental policies; escalate concerns as necessary.
- Participate in departmental and Institute committees and quality improvement projects.
- Provide staffing coverage as needed to support pharmacy operations.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.

- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Knowledge of pharmacy operations, medication management, and regulatory standards.
- Proficiency with computer systems and software relevant to pharmacy practice.
- Ability to prevent and resolve intra-departmental and interdepartmental problems.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with pharmacy practice trends.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises staff. Hires, develops, and manages staff to achieve organizational goals. Sets clear expectations, delivers feedback, and monitors performance for quality, efficiency, and compliance with policies and procedures. Mentors staff, fosters career growth, and cultivates a positive and productive work environment.
PATIENT CONTACT: Yes, direct patient contact through clinical specialist practice and consultative services.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited college or university required; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited college or university preferred.
Minimum Experience:
5 years of pharmacy experience required, with demonstrated leadership interests and abilities.
License/Certification/Registration:
Licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Certification in a related pharmacy specialty or advanced degree/training in a specialty practice area preferred.

The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.
For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
