Assistant Business Manager The Town of Longmeadow Department of Public

Works is seeking a FT Assistant Business Manager. Under general direction of the Business Manager, this position supports the Department of Public Works by overseeing the work order system, processing payroll and accounts payable, and performing customer service duties related to DPW operations. Successful candidate must have: Knowledge of relevant Massachusetts General Laws related to essential functions. Knowledge of general office procedures and machines, Departmental operations, policies and procedures, and how to handle conflict and difficult situations with employees and residents; knowledge of project management principles and best practices; knowledge of procurement laws. Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties and manage conflict. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain good public relations and to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Town departments, department heads, fellow employees, officials and the general public and to respond in a courteous and professional manner. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to work independently. Ability to learn and operate DPW related software programs such as Work Management programs, GIS, utility billing. Ability to maintain complete and accurate detailed records, detailed data entry, composing correspondence and ability to calculate mathematic computations. Ability to operate office equipment, including computer. Ability to assure compliance with applicable federal, state, local and departmental regulations, codes and policies. Ability to interpret and follow rules and regulations and use sound judgment. Strong communication skills, problem solving skills and customer service skills. Proficient in the use of computer programs and applications including Google Suites, Microsoft Office Suites, email and the Internet; web page management, MUNIS, Crystal Reports and Social Media. Bachelor\'s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field, and 3 to 5 years of related experience in customer service, accounts payable and payroll; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and experience. Valid driver\'s license required and MCPPO (Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official) preferred. Salary \$61,032 to \$64,748 DOQ/DOE; Excellent benefits.
