As a Marketing Manager - Strategy, you'll lead the development and execution of integrated marketing programs that help our clients advance innovation, build industry leadership, and engage global audiences.

This role blends brand strategy, content marketing, client consulting, and marketing execution. You'll serve as the marketing lead for a portfolio of clients-defining strategy and advising clients using data, best practices, and business insight. You'll also contribute to Virtual's internal growth by mentoring a direct report, championing marketing analytics within the team, and identifying new opportunities to expand client impact (and retainers, project scopes, and results).

We're looking for someone who is intellectually curious, calm under pressure, and unafraid to ask smart questions. You should be comfortable leading client conversations, navigating ambiguity, and collaborating with internal cross-functional teams and external vendors to drive results.

 

Preference for local candidates to work out of our Wakefield, MA office 3 days/week.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic Marketing & Client Partnership

  • Lead and guide the market planning process and implementation of strategic marketing plans for multiple clients, ensuring alignment with business goals and measurable KPIs --including helping define strategic goals when unclear.
  • Serve as the primary marketing lead for assigned clients, building strong, trusted relationships.
  • Facilitate regular planning and review sessions with clients to assess progress, refine strategy, and identify new opportunities.
  • Guide multi-channel strategy, including email, social media, website, blogs, and thought leadership.
  • Provide proactive guidance and insight based on industry trends, campaign data, and client priorities.
  • Lead the development of integrated, goal-driven marketing strategies across a portfolio of association clients.
  • Plan and oversee integrated campaigns tied to strategic initiatives, new launches, or events.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for new campaigns, strategies, or services that align with client objectives and increase revenue.
  • Participate in new client onboarding, leading initial discovery and education sessions.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor within the client marketing team; support career development and performance management.
  • Help build the marketing team's analytics capabilities by sharing expertise, improving processes, and introducing new tools/methods.
  • Collaborate within Client Marketing, as well as Events and Operations teams to ensure integrated campaign delivery and identify opportunities for process improvement, standardization, and scalability.

Analytics & Marketing Performance

  • Define KPIs and develop dashboards to measure campaign and program effectiveness.
  • Analyze campaign performance and provide data-driven insights to optimize future strategy.
  • Present marketing results to clients in a compelling, easy-to-understand format.

 

As our next Marketing Manager, Strategy, you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field; advanced degree a plus
  • 5–7 years of experience in B2B marketing with a focus on strategic planning, analytics, and client-facing engagement
  • Proven success managing marketing programs across multiple clients or business units
  • Experience managing at least one direct report (or mentoring junior team members)
  • Deep knowledge of marketing analytics and campaign measurement techniques
  • Strong business acumen and ability to recommend solutions that drive measurable value
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in HubSpot (or other MAPs), Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools (Wrike, Asana, Trello, etc.)
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed for client meetings or events
  • Must be able to meet applicable client or travel requirements

 

The target hiring range for this role is $80,000-90,000 USD (annually). The starting base salary will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other job-related factors.
