Precision Metrology Quality Inspector

Double E Group
West Bridgewater, MA

About the Role

Step into a day where precision rules. As a Precision Metrology Quality Inspector, you’ll safeguard the dimensional integrity of custom machined parts from first cut to shipment. You’ll apply advanced inspection methods to build and run quality programs, verify process accuracy with random sampling, and call out any condition that demands immediate correction.

A Day in the Life

  • Start of shift: Review job travelers and prints, then perform in-process inspections on custom components. Confirm process health by checking randomly selected samples and validating equipment or process accuracy.
  • Mid-morning: Partner with manufacturing to clear conforming parts to the next operation; inspect parts from outside vendors to required specs.
  • Midday: Conduct final inspections across multiple product lines. Create and maintain detailed inspection reports, including custom customer-specific documentation.
  • Afternoon: Update the non-conformance database, analyze trends, and collaborate across departments on Root Cause Analysis to drive corrective actions.
  • Ongoing: Manage calibration for all metrology tools and devices, maintain associated records, evaluate damaged instruments for repair viability with manufacturers, and replace when not cost-effective. Report defective findings to the Production Manager and Engineering Manager, and recommend new inspection equipment as needed.

What You’ll Tackle

  • Inspect custom machined parts during in-process and final stages to confirm conformance to print specifications and quality standards.
  • Use advanced inspection techniques to develop and conduct quality programs.
  • Perform random sampling and verify the accuracy of equipment and processes.
  • Escalate conditions that require immediate repair or intervention.
  • Keep meticulous inspection records and customer-specific reports.
  • Maintain a robust non-conformance database and analyze trends.
  • Own the calibration system for metrology devices and documentation.
  • Coordinate evaluation/repair decisions with tool manufacturers; replace when repair is not economical.
  • Communicate defective product findings to Production and Engineering leadership.
  • Inspect parts received from outside vendors and drive continuous improvement through RCA.
  • Recommend new inspection equipment when beneficial.
