Tax Manager

A well-established CPA firm located in Wakefield, MA is hiring a Tax Manager to lead tax engagements and build strong client relationships. This position offers a competitive salary of $130,000 plus bonus and is ideal for an entrepreneurial, personable, and technically skilled professional seeking career growth in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and manage tax engagements in accordance with professional and firm standards
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate tax projects and resources
• Review complex tax returns and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance
• Conduct technical tax research and apply insights to client strategies
• Serve as primary contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships
• Provide training, direction, and performance feedback to team members
• Oversee a book of business, including managing production goals and budgets
• Support client consulting and special project initiatives as needed

Required Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in public accounting, with emphasis on tax services
• Proven ability to manage multiple client projects under deadlines
• Experience supervising staff or leading tax engagement teams

Nice-to-Have Experience:

• Exposure to various industries including privately held and mid-sized businesses
• Participation in business development or client acquisition
• Experience in a growing or progressive firm environment

Required Skills:

• CPA certification
• Expertise in tax compliance and planning for businesses and individuals
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills:

• Proficiency in ProSystem fx Tax
• Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Word
• Strong organizational and detail-oriented approach
• Knowledge of accounting and auditing principles
