The Assistant Director of Specialized Services is responsible for administering and coordinating agency residential, day supports, and specialized service supports designed to enrich the lives of people with brain injuries and other disabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree strongly preferred.
  • Ability to comprehend and write English at traditional Grade 12 level.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and an agreement to use one’s personal vehicle for business purposes.
  • Three years management experience working with people with developmental disabilities, ABI experience strongly preferred.
  • Acceptable Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) and fingerprint check.
  • Acceptable screen against the OIG-LEIE (Office of the Inspector General’s List of Excluded Individuals and Entities).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The Assistant Director of Specialized Services shall work closely with the Director of Specialized Services in the administration of Agency residential and day services. He/she shall assist the Directors in the following areas of assigned responsibility.

Oversee and assume responsibility for the administration of the ABI and other related disability residences and ABI Supplemental Services.

Monitor and ensure compliance with regulatory and licensing/accreditation standards.

As assigned, ensure that homes, furniture, equipment and vehicles are properly maintained.

Ensure that assigned staff’s communication with families, employers, associates and others in the community represent the agency positively and professionally.

Ensure timely and consistent communication of relevant information to DDS personnel, parents/guardians and other providers.

Ensure that resident lifestyles reflect individual interests and normative routines.

Ensure individuals have interest-oriented access to community activities and resources on an individual basis.

Develop and implement procedures for assessing peoples’ strengths, interests, competencies, etc. with provisions for on-going reviews of these procedures to insure relevancy and a dignified process.

Ensure the provision of support services (family needs, transportation, staffing, and technical assistance) as appropriate.

Represent Agency positively and professionally; assist in public relations efforts.

As needed/requested, serve as liaison between Agency ABI services and other service providers.

Communicate with families/guardians as appropriate.

Work cooperatively with other staff in coordinating services across program/program components including coordination of direct support staff schedules with ABI Program Coordinators as needed.

Assume supervision responsibility for assigned staff/ LPN including but not limited to, training, corrective feedback, conformance to Agency policies, adherence to schedules and program plans; and with assistance from Director of Specialized Services or designee, implementation of disciplinary procedures.

Encourage/require professional development of direct care staff.

Assume responsibility for data collection and documentation requirements of internal and external supplemental support services as assigned by the Director of Specialized Services including but not limited to: progress notes, quarterlies, support strategies, assessments and reporting of Incidents.

Assume responsibility for data collection and submission of daily attendance for all internal and external supplemental services including transportation.

Assist Day and Supplemental Services Directors as required in the development and implementation of Agency policies and procedures and in general administrative functions.

Coordinate licensing and certification requirements of assigned programs.

Ensure that homes are properly maintained.

Ensure adequate procedures and protection for administration of program and resident finances.

Conduct/Ensure regular Supervisor meetings and staff meetings.

Participate in the development of ISPs and oversee implementation.

Ensure all participant medical and psychological needs are addressed.

Monitor medication administration procedures and staff certification training.

Implement disciplinary procedures as necessary.

Monitor employee electronic payroll timecards

Assume “On-Call” responsibilities as assigned.

Assume various other and related duties as assigned by the Director of Specialized Services.

Perform all duties in conformance to, or in recognition of, existing Agency philosophy, policies and procedures and funding source regulations.

Monitor general health status of participants, including hygiene issues and skin integrity.

Complete all health related documentation requirements.

Administer minor first aid when necessary
