North Suffolk is looking for Peer Facilitators to join our team! The Peer Facilitator is a member of the Recovery Learning Center (RLC) community at the Hope Center for North Suffolk and the wider Metro Boston Recovery Learning Community (MBRLC). This position is designated for a person who is or has been a recipient of services for mental health and/or substance abuse disorders. The Peer Facilitator at the Hope Center reports to the Hope Center Director and is a contributing team member of the larger peer support specialist network at North Suffolk.
This position is a part-time/per diem position of approximately 6-15 hours per week; Tuesday-Thursday: 10am-4pm.
What you'll do:
- Collaborate and participate in schedule development and on-going revision of activities and schedules.
- Organize, lead, and co-facilitate groups to engage community members, as well as individual and group activities that promote social experiences, increase community connection, and provide opportunities to practice skills and receive feedback and support from a peer-inclusive environment.
- Promote one’s own knowledge and the education of the Hope Center community about the emerging recovery movement
- Emphasize and support self-determination for all community members
- Facilitate and maintain data collection as defined by North Suffolk and Boston Medical Center, in order to insure accurate information about the community and to support any Department of Mental Health reporting guidelines.
- Participate in and promote the organization, cleanliness, and overall welcoming environment of the Hope Center.
What you’ll need:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in a field other than behavioral sciences preferred
- Experience: Work experience with adults with serious and persistent mental illnesses or with individuals with similar human-services needs. This individual should be a current or former recipient of mental health services who is in recovery.
- Skills: Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person visits the Hope Center and who identifies as having a mental health and/or substance use disorder. CPR/1st Aid Certification within three months of hire (training provided).
