Financial Analyst
Kforce's client, a leading financial services organization located in the Boston, MA area, is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst with strong accounting, systems, and advanced Excel skills. This role supports payroll accounting, and some payroll processing (they'll teach that part!) and cross functional coordination with HR and Finance. The position interacts with employees across multiple U.S. states and external vendors. This position is hybrid, working several days from home. Responsibilities:
- Using your outstanding advanced excel skills and business intelligence experience, perform payroll and related analysis for this US company with about 800 employees
- Analyze and assist in reporting employee lifecycle changes, including new hires, salary updates, job changes, and terminations
- Verify that payroll system data aligns with supporting documentation such as offers, promotions, resignations, and compensation updates
- Review and validate benefit deductions and make adjustments as needed
- Confirm accurate earnings codes and prepare payroll data corrections
- Reconcile payroll earnings and control records weekly to ensure accuracy
- Review and approve timesheets; Follow up on discrepancies
- Learn and apply state overtime rules and internal pay policies
- Conduct regular overtime calculations and ensure any additional pay owed is correctly processed
- Collaborate with HR regarding staffing, compensation, and benefits changes
- Provide payroll related reporting and assist with data requests from internal and external stakeholders
- Assist with payroll accounting activities including general ledger entries and reconciliations
- Review payroll GL postings for accuracy
- Support payroll related payments and reconciliations
- Support ongoing payroll process improvements
- Bachelor's degree required, Accounting major preferred
- 2-3 years of accounting experience; public accounting and/or CPA is a plus
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Index/Match, SUMIF)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Strong communication skills-both written and verbal
- Effective organizational and time management capabilities
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to high quality work
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
