About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a large-scale insurance accounting transformation initiative . This role will focus on driving controllership activities across insurance accounting, with a strong emphasis on SAP S/4HANA and FPSL implementation .

The SME will define and validate accounting requirements, collaborate with technology partners, and ensure system design aligns with financial reporting and regulatory compliance. This is a senior-level role requiring both deep accounting expertise and transformation experience , particularly in the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the controllership SME for insurance accounting transformation initiatives, including SAP S/4HANA and FPSL implementation .

• Define, validate , and document business requirements for reinsurance and insurance accounting processes.

• Collaborate with Finance, Project, and Technology partners to align system design with financial reporting, compliance, and regulatory standards.

• Support data mapping, reconciliations, testing, and controls to ensure accuracy and integrity of the financial close process.

• Provide leadership in change management, training, and adoption of new systems and processes.

• Develop and maintain process documentation and best practices to support long-term transformation success.

• Offer expert guidance on accounting issues, risks, and opportunities during the transformation.

Required Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in accounting, controllership, or finance roles, with a strong focus on the insurance industry .

• Deep expertise in insurance and reinsurance accounting under US GAAP and statutory reporting standards .

• Hands-on experience with SAP FICO (finance/accounting modules) highly preferred.

• Prior involvement in SAP R/3 or ECC to S/4HANA migration projects required ; FPSL exposure strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience in large-scale finance transformation initiatives within insurance or financial services.

• Strong consulting and stakeholder management skills; ability to bridge between Finance and Technology teams.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
