Overview

Lead Front End Developer

We're looking for an outstanding Lead Front-End Developer - a passionate coder and born collaborator who can apply their expert skills to create world-class web solutions.

As a Lead Front-End Developer, you'll work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to create first-rate web experiences and ensure top-notch, end-to-end solutions.

  • Devising modern and maintainable code-based solutions

  • Staying up to date on emerging technologies and techniques

  • Playing a leadership role in helping to scope, shape, plan, and execute a project

  • Serving as a thought leader and recognized subject matter expert within your field

  • Defining technology standards and setting the technical direction for the team

  • Ensuring that all web experiences created by the team are performant, secure, and accessible

  • Orchestrating code reviews and strategically delegating tasks to junior team members

  • Actively mentoring junior team members in areas of code quality, risk mitigation, and time management

  • Assuming a visible role in cultivating a healthy engineering culture

  • Driving mutually beneficial solutions between our Creative and Technology teams

  • Keying in on big-picture business objectives and crafting appropriate technical solutions

  • Helping client teams navigate trade-offs associated with alternate technical approaches

Qualifications

We're looking for strong, impactful work experience, which typically includes:

  • 7 to 10 years of professional web development experience.

  • Expert-level command of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

  • Mastery of modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, or Angular), build tools, and responsive web design techniques.

  • Strong understanding of usability, visual design, and modern UI/UX best practices.

  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards and hands-on experience implementing accessible interfaces.

  • Experience implementing analytics solutions and instrumentation in web applications.

  • Strong proficiency with at least one content management system.

  • Ability to design robust, maintainable UI architectures and front-end application structures.

  • Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases sufficient to integrate and reason about API data models.

  • Proven experience architecting and implementing complex integrations with backend systems using REST and GraphQL APIs, including authentication, pagination, error handling, and performance optimization.

  • Experience building modern, highly usable applications that support SPA, SSG, and SSR rendering patterns using contemporary meta-frameworks (e.g., Next.js, Nuxt, Remix).

  • Ability to define, build, and maintain a scalable design system and component library (tokens, theming, documentation) that can be adopted across multiple products and teams.

  • Experience leading small teams of developers, including task delegation, mentoring, and performance feedback.

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.

  • Positive, collaborative attitude and ability to work independently as well as part of a cross-functional team.

  • Strong skills in prioritizing work, managing deadlines, and thriving in a fast-paced environment.

  • Intellectual curiosity, passion for learning, and desire to stay current with the front-end ecosystem.

  • Experience establishing front-end architecture standards for state management, routing, testing, data fetching, and caching for API-driven experiences.

  • Experience running and participating in code reviews, setting coding conventions, and championing performance and accessibility best practices.

  • Familiarity with prompt-based interaction and commonly used generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, DALL·E, Midjourney) for ideation, research, and content generation is a plus.

Compensation Range: $112,290 - $172,032 annually. This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position, and the Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Temporary roles may be eligible to participate in our freelancer/temporary employee medical plan through a third-party benefits administration system once certain criteria have been met. Temporary roles may also qualify for participation in our 401(k) plan after eligibility criteria have been met. For regular roles, the Company will offer medical coverage, dental, vision, disability, 401k, and paid time off.
