The Department of Nursing Leadership at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) provides strategic leadership and oversight for nursing practice across our health system. Under the direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) is a key member of the leadership team, providing strategic and operational leadership for nursing services and shared functions. This critical role holds direct operational responsibility and oversight of operational and quality standards, driving planning aligned with the strategic direction set by senior leadership. The ACNO supervises inpatient acute care services at Cambridge and Everett Hospital, as well as maternal services at Cambridge Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic and Operational Leadership:
Provide strategic and operational oversight for nursing services, ensuring appropriate development and resourcing.
Establish, coordinate, and achieve CHA System goals consistently, focusing on ACO principles.
Develop policies and procedures related to practice operations, staffing models, patient safety and quality, and customer service.
Leverage technology to achieve system goals and ensure linkages across the network.
Achieve the quality improvement, financial, strategic, and operational goals of the Service Line, working collaboratively with Department Chiefs.
Enhance and integrate systems, programs, support, and human resources, with a focus on business evaluation, continuous quality improvement, customer satisfaction, and service delivery integration.
Culture and Relationship Building:
Build a culture that embraces and supports the philosophy of patient-centered patient care, with specific emphasis on staff and team training needs.
Develop relationships with community support organizations in all CHA service areas.
Establish effective relationships with physician and administrative leadership for planning and making key operational decisions.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Licensure: Massachusetts RN License required.
Certifications: American Heart Associate BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
Experience: 10 years of experience with 5 years in a leadership role.
