Special Education Teacher

Come join our team!POSITION OBJECTIVE: This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility for delivering high quality instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the curriculum frameworks, standards and the rules and regulations of the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for chairing annual IEP meetingResponsible for writing and revising IEPsServe as liaison for a caseload of Special Education studentsResponsible for effective management of the classroom environmentResponsible for using innovative approaches, and instructional strategies, including the effective use of technologies, to increase student learning and confidence to learnResponsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievementResponsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning, including, implementing specific strategies for students with moderate to severe disabilitiesResponsible for the creation and implementation of differentiated curricula encompassing core content areas and life skillsResponsible for management of paraprofessional resources in the classroomResponsible for providing equal educational and employment opportunities to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, religion, gender identity, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or homelessnessPerformance of other job-related duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Required certification in Massachusetts DESE license in Moderate DisabilitiesSEI EndorsementBA DegreePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Teaching experience, high school preferredDemonstrated experience supporting students with special education needsCandidates who are licensed in another state will be considered if they qualify for the temporary license from DESE (must possess the equivalent license from another state and must have documented proof of working under that license for at least three complete school years) Candidates will need to apply for and pay for the DESE license as a condition of employmentREPORTS TO: Director of Student Services and School PrincipalSALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: In accordance with the Freetown-Lakeville Regional School District Educators Association contract.
