Senior Tax Accountant (base up to $120k + bonus, benefits)

A growing CPA firm just outside of Boston, MA is hiring a Senior Tax Accountant to lead client engagements, review complex returns, and mentor junior staff in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.

You’ll work closely with a supportive leadership team and have access to specialty departments, giving you exposure to a wide variety of tax issues and a clear path to future advancement (Manager and beyond). Clients include large public companies and privately held businesses across diverse industries.

Compensation:

• Base salary up to $120,000, depending on experience

Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise tax engagements in compliance with firm and professional standards
• Plan and schedule engagements, coordinating directly with clients and internal teams
• Review complex federal and state tax returns (business and individual) and related workpapers for accuracy and completeness
• Train, supervise, and mentor junior staff and associates, providing clear feedback and coaching
• Perform technical tax research and clearly communicate findings internally and to clients
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional value-added services
• Stay current on tax law and regulatory changes relevant to your client base and areas of specialization

Must-Have Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of public accounting experience with a primary focus on tax
• Proven experience managing tax engagements and serving as a reviewer
• Hands-on experience reviewing complex business and individual tax returns
• Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple deadlines during busy seasons

Nice to Have Skills and Experience :

• Supervisory experience across multiple concurrent client engagements
• Prior experience with clients in diverse industries (e.g., closely held businesses, corporations, multi-entity groups)
• CPA license or active CPA track
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, ProSystem fx Tax, and/or CCH Axcess Tax
• Strong tax research and analytical skills related to planning and compliance
