Takeout Specialist

Position Summary:
As a Takeout Specialist, you will be responsible for taking, preparing, and packaging takeout orders while ensuring that the guest’s experience is as seamless and enjoyable as possible. You’ll act as a point of contact for guests ordering food to go, answering questions, taking phone calls, coordinating order pickup, and maintaining a clean and organized takeout station. This is a tipped position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take Orders : Answer phone calls, online orders, and walk-in takeout requests, taking accurate orders and confirming details with the guest to ensure satisfaction.
- Prepare Takeout Orders : Coordinate with the kitchen to prepare and package food orders in a timely and organized manner, ensuring all items are included, correctly packaged, and neatly presented.
- Customer Service : Provide excellent customer service by interacting with guests, answering questions about the menu, recommending items, and ensuring a positive takeout experience.
- Order Accuracy : Double-check orders before packaging to ensure accuracy, confirming any special requests or dietary needs are addressed.
- Payment Processing : Handle guest payments accurately, process transactions, and provide receipts. Ensure any necessary change or tips are handled properly and that all POS entries are correct.
- Maintain Cleanliness : Keep the takeout counter and surrounding areas clean and organized, including sanitizing surfaces, restocking supplies, and managing trash and recyclables.
- Ensure Timely Pickups : Notify guests when their orders are ready for pickup and assist with carrying orders out to cars or curbside service if applicable.
- Coordinate with Kitchen and Servers : Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure that takeout orders are prepared according to guest specifications and ready on time. Work with servers to ensure timely pick-up of orders during busy shifts.
- Support the Front and Back of House: Assist the front and back of house with any tasks and side work duties during slower periods throughout the shift
- Upsell : Use suggestive selling techniques to offer drink pairings, appetizers, desserts, or other menu items to enhance the guest's takeout experience.
Qualifications:
- Communication : Strong verbal communication skills with a friendly, professional attitude when interacting with guests over the phone or in person.
- Attention to Detail : Ability to ensure all orders are correctly packaged, complete, and accurately reflect the guest’s preferences or special requests.
- Multitasking Ability : Comfortable managing multiple orders at once in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Organizational Skills : Ability to keep the takeout station clean and organized, managing order flow efficiently during busy periods.
- Customer Focused : A positive attitude with a commitment to providing excellent service, even in stressful or high-volume situations.
- Team Player : Ability to work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient takeout service, and offer support when needed.
- Physical Requirements : Ability to stand for long periods and carry food packages up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment:
- The work environment is typically fast paced, with a high volume of guests during peak hours.
- The noise level in the restaurant can vary but is generally moderate to loud, especially during busy shifts.

Takeout staff must be able to:
- Bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and climb as required during the shift.
- Work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Multitask and work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Bring food outside to customers’ vehicles all year round
