Applications Engineer / Lead Pilot

On-Site, Bolton, MA

We're seeking an experienced and motivated professional to lead field operations, customer engagement, and technical support for our Remote Sensing products. This role combines UAV flight operations, post-sales customer success, application support to key customers, and thought leadership in applied hyperspectral and remote sensing technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Flight Operations:
  • Serve as Lead UAV Pilot for all company operations.
  • Define, maintain, and enforce flight safety protocols and FAA compliance (Part 107).
  • Conduct field missions and customer demonstrations with optical payloads (multispectral/hyperspectral/LiDAR).
  • Support manufacturing with calibration flight tests and data processing as required.
  • Stay current with remote sensing trends and contribute to product and roadmap evolution.
• Customer Success:
  • Deliver technical training and support to global customers and distributors.
  • Triage and manage service tickets, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
  • Support timely RMA handling and prepare service quotations.
• Pre-Sales & Technical Support:
  • Assist the sales team with demonstrations, data examples, and system integration details.
  • Contribute to technical presentations and customer-facing documentation.
  • Travel to customer sites globally for pre-sales and professional services engagements.

Required Qualifications

• FAA Part 107 certification with a minimum of 100 hours of UAV flight time .
• Proven ability to lead flight operations safely and efficiently.
• Hands-on experience operating optical payloads (multispectral or hyperspectral preferred).
• Strong communication and technical presentation skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25 (domestic and international).
• Ability to operate with limited oversight and direction.

Preferred Experience

• Customer-facing technical support or service desk background.
• Experience with ENVI , ArcGIS , or similar geospatial tools.
• Familiarity with LiDAR , photogrammetry, or other remote sensing modalities.
