We’re hiring a Founding Geoscientist to join us at the ground floor.

Next-generation geothermal power is a carbon-free, always-on, and ubiquitous resource with the potential to power the entire world 140-times over. Over the next 5 years, we aim to enable exponential growth in geothermal power production by making it as easy to de-risk a site for geothermal energy as it is for solar and wind. We are doing this by leveraging AI and physics to achieve technological breakthroughs in subsurface characterization.

What you’ll do:

We are looking for a Founding Geoscientist to lead all geological aspects of our product development.

You will be the geologic brain behind the product - the primary expert responsible for developing and improving the geologic modeling frameworks and data workflows that drive our platform. You will collaborate closely with our CTO and machine learning scientists as well as our customers to improve the accuracy and geographic extent of NMT’s novel AI/geophysics model.

You’ll have the opportunity to build a new company from the ground up and invent new technology to radically increase clean energy supply. Total compensation will be a mixture of cash and stock options. NMT offers best-in-class health benefits.

About you:

We are looking for individuals with the following attributes:

• Proven experience in geologic and geophysical investigations, with a strong background in structural geology
• Experience with computational methods in the geosciences, and familiarity with Python
• Adaptable problem solving and ability to learn new approaches quickly
• Structured thinking and excellent communication skills

Ideal candidate will have:

• Experience applying or overseeing subsurface characterization, with a strong understanding of reservoir characterization

Expected education: We expect that successful candidates will have completed a PhD, or have equivalent industry experience, in geosciences or subsurface energy development, focusing on structural geology, geomechanics, or geothermal reservoir characterization.

Geography: Preference for in-person employment in Boston; potential for hybrid or remote arrangements.
