Precision CNC Turning/Milling Specialist

Step into a hands-on machining role where precision, safety, and documentation come together. You’ll set up and operate CNC lathes, mills, and mill-turn equipment to produce parts exactly to customer prints, verify quality with in-process inspections, and keep each lot fully traceable. As production runs, you’ll deburr, document, and package parts—escalating any nonconformance or FOD and safeguarding product integrity every step of the way.

Interested in leadership? There’s a path. In a lead capacity, you’ll coordinate scheduling for a turning or milling area, troubleshoot issues, adjust and refine CNC programs, and partner with the milling or turning lead to complete first-piece inspections.

What You’ll Do

• Machine parts on CNC turning/lathe/mill/mill-turn equipment to print and customer specifications using CNC programs.
• Perform in-process inspections to print callouts and document results; complete first-piece activities in collaboration with area leads.
• Deburr parts to requirements; maintain part identification, lot segregation, and full traceability.
• Detect, segregate, and report nonconforming material and foreign object debris (FOD); control nonconforming material per procedures and supporting documentation.
• Accurately report damaged/nonconforming parts to team leaders/Manager and support corrective actions.
• Complete job travelers and all required documentation with accuracy; assist with packaging and shipping.
• Report any safety concerns observed during normal job activities.
• Comply with AS9100D and customer-specific requirements.
• Lead-track responsibilities: oversee and schedule the turning or milling area; troubleshoot; program and perform upgrades; verify outcomes of program changes; collaborate on first-piece inspections.

Core Competencies

• Strong print reading; practical awareness of GD&T concepts.
• Multitasking—inspect/measure while machines run; ability to run more than one machine at a time.
• Manual dexterity, sustained standing endurance, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Clean, organized work habits; consistent safety focus and safe-work record.
• Proficiency with gauges and measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.).
• Collaborative team mindset within an AS9100 environment.

Required Knowledge & Skills

• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) understanding.
• Experience with Brown & Sharpe Micro-Val CMM is a plus.
• Experience with CMM Manager software is a plus.
• Skilled with inspection tools: dial indicators, gage blocks, micrometers, and more.
• Clear communication and solid math abilities.
• Familiarity with an AS9100 shop environment.

Training

• Familiarity with Jet Machined Products inspection forms and record-keeping practices.
• AS9100 awareness.

Education

High School diploma or GED (vocational or non-vocational).

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Turning/Milling Lead; if serving as Lead, reports to the General Manager.

Physical & Work Environment

• Must be able to lift and move machined parts.
• Clean, relatively quiet shop; hearing protection required in some areas.
• Eye hazard potential; eye protection required for certain operations.

Schedule

Occasional overtime; workload dependent.
