The Child and Special Needs Unit Program Director maintains direct oversight of the clinical and administrative operations of Westborough Behavioral Healthcare Hospitals’ Child and Special Needs Unit. The Program Director will be responsible for establishing a strong child behavioral health model that guides the program’s clinical framework and service provision. Assist with Structured daily programming that is designed to engage each patient in a range of developmentally appropriately therapy, school, and daily living experiences, as well s Therapeutic activities to help organize children/adolescents in a time of crisis, provide opportunities to learn and practice coping skills, and offer a measure of each child’s response to a different situation. Administratively, the Program Director will be responsible for recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, supervising, and managing staff, comprising clinical consultants and specialized support staff. They will familiarize themselves with the NRPPD staffing grid, balance budgeted FTE’s along with other cost for the units.

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of clinical/consultative and support staff, to support the social-emotional, behavioral, and educational development of children the program cares for.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, train, supervise, and manage program staff.
  • Work closely with and familiarize with discharge planning processes in an Acute Care facility as to not jeopardize the rights of child patients to be supported in the community
  • Support the clinicians/consultative and support staff and interns with the implementation of current and new agency-wide and or program-specific programming (e.g., trauma-informed care, CBT, wellness efforts).
  • Ensure the collection, review, analysis, and reporting of data related to outcomes for children, families, and programs served.
  • Facilitate team meetings and training for staff, childcare providers, parents/caregivers, and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely and in collaboration with Nursing staff to ensure patient care and regulatory requirements are met
  • Using a range of techniques, including positive behavioral support, and a treatment model that designed to help stabilize children in crisis, reduce high-risk symptoms, and support children and special needs child-adolescence as they build skills related to overcoming behavioral health challenges.
  • Participate in all required meetings and all required data/tracking/reporting.
  • Oversee documentation keeping requirements, compliance, and quality.
  • Provide consultation and support to staff, interns, clients, and collateral agencies as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and referral sources.
  • Properly attend to administrative functions, including attending required meetings, completing assigned oral and written reports, and actively participating in supervision and professional development opportunities at Westborough Behavioral Healthcare.
  • Regularly attend weekly supervision, staff meetings, and trainings.
  • Follow and implement all Westborough Behavioral policies and procedures.
  • Participate in operational meetings and initiatives to help the organization with continuous development and an organizational culture of positivity and excellence.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and/or Licensure

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from accredited school.
  • Valid Massachusetts RN license in good standing.

Experience

  • 2+ years of managerial/clinical experience in a therapeutic treatment setting that serves young children and Special Needs population.
  • Computer proficiency, in the use of computer systems for clinical information management.
  • Excellent oral/ written communication skills.
  • Able to demonstrate ability to produce written reports in a timely manner.
  • Experience working within an acute psychiatric setting with supervisory experience.

Salary: $94,952 - $156,499.20
