ANTICIPATED * Elementary Literacy Coach

Literacy Coach: The Elementary Literacy Coach will serve as a resource and support to all elementary teachers and the building principal during the school year. The successful candidate will work 13 hours per week and report to the Director of Curriculum and Grants. Job Requirements:

• Master's Degree or advanced training in Reading/Literacy
• At least five years as a K-5 grade-level classroom teacher

Job Duties:

• Has a thorough working knowledge of the 2017 revised MA Frameworks for Literacy
• Has a strong skill set in pedagogy combined with knowledge of both primary and intermediate literacy skills and strategies
• Collaborates with colleagues and administrators to ensure that the literacy standards are understood and taught effectively in each grade level K-5
• Provides informal classroom peer observations for the purpose of supporting teachers with best instructional practices in literacy and alternative methods of supporting learners
• Provides office hours for teachers with the purpose of planning and/or receiving feedback on lessons
• Models lessons in the classroom
• Analyzes data related to literacy assessments in preparation for meetings with teaching staff and administrators for goal setting and intervention
• Directs tutors in delivering instruction, assessments, and planning
• Participates in weekly meetings with the Director of Curriculum and Grants, discussing literacy-related topics as they pertain to the elementary schools
• Will actively participate in the ELA curriculum review, adoption and implementation process
• Prepares and presents literacy-related Professional Development opportunities to teaching staff, including special educators and paraprofessionals
• Supports communication and engagement with families related to better understanding of literacy standards as well as concepts and skills by grade level
• Manages, inventories, and prepares ordering forms and distributes literacy materials to staff
• May coordinate, distribute, and collect ELA MCAS materials at the discretion of the building principals
• ** Will work 13 hours before the start of school to distribute materials to the appropriate staff
