Senior Sensor Intelligence Engineering Program Manager
Job Description
Job Description
At WHOOP, we're on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan. WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.
WHOOP is hiring a Senior Sensor Intelligence Engineering Program Manager to support advanced development of physiological sensing and signal processing capabilities that may power future WHOOP innovations. In this role, you will partner closely with sensor intelligence researchers, hardware engineers, and firmware teams to explore new algorithmic approaches, enable experimental research programs, and validate emerging sensing technologies. You will play a critical role in structuring complex research efforts, coordinating cross-functional experimentation, and helping translate early-stage discoveries into validated technical opportunities for future product development at WHOOP.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead program management for early-stage signal processing and physiological algorithm development, enabling rapid exploration of new sensing and modeling approaches that may power future WHOOP capabilities.
- Partner with sensor intelligence researchers, data scientists, hardware engineers, and firmware teams to define experimental roadmaps, feasibility milestones, and technical success criteria for advanced development programs.
- Establish structured processes for algorithm prototyping, experimentation, and iterative evaluation, helping research teams move efficiently from concept to validated technical feasibility.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts to design and execute data collection studies, ensuring research teams have the datasets required to evaluate new signal processing approaches.
- Identify technical risks, knowledge gaps, and dependencies early, driving focused investigations that inform future product development decisions.
- Facilitate the transition of promising algorithms and learnings from advanced development into downstream product and engineering teams for potential integration into the WHOOP platform.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience in technical program management, engineering program management, or leading complex cross-functional technical initiatives.
- Experience working closely with sensor intelligence, machine learning, data science, or research engineering teams.
- Experience working with physiological signals or wearable sensor data (e.g., PPG, accelerometry, ECG, or similar biosignals) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage programs in research or advanced development environments where goals evolve through experimentation and discovery.
- Strong understanding of early algorithm development workflows, including experimentation and data collection.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts across research, engineering, and product teams.
- Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.
