Commercial Property Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Property Accountant to join a growing team managing a diverse portfolio of retail and office properties. In this pivotal role, you will be the first in-house accounting professional, responsible for overseeing financial processes across approximately 20 properties. Job Details:

• Base Salary: $90,000–$100,000 (depending on experience)
• Bonus: Target 5% annual discretionary bonus, based on individual and company performance
• Benefits: Healthcare, Dental, Vision, 401(k)
• Standard Hours: 8:30am–5:00pm (flexible start/end times)
• Work Arrangement: Hybrid 4 days in-office, 1 day remote

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly financial statements and reconciliations (CAM, bank, A/R, balance sheet)
• Manage tenant accounting, including rents, ledgers, delinquencies, and billbacks (CAM, utilities, percentage rent)
• Review general ledger activity, P&L statements, and post journal entries
• Partner with property management on budgets, reporting, and lease interpretation (CAM, percentage rent, expense pass-throughs)
• Recommend and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3 to 5 years of experience with general ledger and financial statement preparation in a commercial real estate environment
• Proficiency with Yardi or similar property management/accounting software
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with tenants and internal teams
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and related Office tools
• Knowledge of commercial retail lease language, including percentage rent and CAM provisions

Other Requirements:

• Capacity to manage multiple properties within a portfolio
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and industry updates as needed
