Early College Liaison
The Early College Liaison requires a multi-talented, flexible individual committed to scholar success to and through college. The Early College Liaison demonstrates the academic disposition and habits to support scholars in their early college coursework and prepare them for postsecondary success. The Early College Liaison’s primary role is to act as a bridge between Argosy Collegiate scholars and the higher-ed institution through frequent communication with the professor of record in regards to scholars’ progress and achievement in the course. Early College Liaison’s also facilitate “companion courses” that correspond with the course(s) in which scholars are enrolled. In these companion courses, Early College liaisons develop self-advocacy skills, collegiate communication, and effective study habits. The Early College Liaison also provides or secures academic help to ensure scholars meet the academic requirements of a given dual enrollment course.
The Early College Liaison role focuses on wrap-around scholar support for all scholars including those supported by special education plans and English Language programs. The Early College Liaison also assists Argosy Collegiate staff that are acting as companion course teachers, ensuring timely progress-monitoring, and effective support. They also work closely with the Directors of Curriculum and Instruction, Deans of College and Career Readiness, and the higher-education partners to ensure access and equity for all scholars on their path towards preparation for college, career, and life.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
While actual roles and responsibilities will vary depending on individual circumstances, the Early College Liaison will generally be required to perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list is not all-inclusive and that the Director of Curriculum and Instruction or Executive Director may also assign other tasks he/she deems appropriate.
Supports for Scholars
- Acting as a liaison between ACCS and higher-education partner in Argosy’s Early College program..
- Maintain consistent communication with Higher-Edfaculty and staff.
- Coordinate activities related to college course-taking including but not limited to course selection and registration, and textbook/supply ordering.
- Visits to the scheduled college courses for real time in-class support.
- Facilitate companion courses that support scholars’ early college courses.
- Coordinate scholars’’ targeted intervention needs between Bristol Community College’s and ACCS’ academic and social emotional support systems
- Connect ACCS scholars with academic support services offered by higher-ed partner including tutoring, the writing center, and Access and Disability services.
- Co-facilitate disability services intake appointments at the college level for scholars with disabilities (ODS).
- Conduct family outreach and facilitate family conferences for scholars who are identified as “high risk” or have been recommended for withdrawal from early college courses.
School Culture
- Attending enrichment activities related to College and Career Readiness including Open Houses and Accepted Scholar Day.
- Developing, tracking, and monitoring scholars’ community service requirements for graduation.
- Developing, tracking, and monitoring fundraising opportunities for scholars.
- Providing tours to visitors of the organization
- Providing outreach to parents, ensuring effective communication for families whose first language is not English.
- Model effective Early College classroom supports to Companion Course teachers to ensure scholars have access to effective support blocks
College and Career Readiness
- Co-planning for scholar internship and job shadowing opportunities with community partners
- Coordinating guest speakers related to college and career readiness
- Assisting scholars and families with financial planning for college through FAFSA, scholarships, and grants.
- Utilizing MEFAto engage scholars in college and career readiness activities.
Student Success Data
- Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and the Deans of College and Career Readiness on the monitoring and evaluation of early college program data to assess scholar progress and to make the necessary program adjustments to improve scholar achievement.
- Regularly track and update scholars’ college course grades in the Early College data tracker
- Create, administer and summarize student survey data at the end of each semester
- Review course progress reports and disseminate final course grades to key administrators and the data manager.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Graduate or professional degrees from an accredited college or university in a relevant field of study.
- Alternatives to the education qualifications may be considered at the discretion of the Executive Director and/or Board
- Ability to analyze test scores and determine appropriate changes to correct deficiencies.
- Ability to manage and maintain multiple projects/initiatives at once.
- Knowledge of high school requirements and college entrance requirements.
- Knowledge of public school and charter school education policies and practices.
- Knowledge of instructional strategies that support the learning needs of scholars with disabilities and multilingual learners
- Knowledge of compliance regulations that protect the rights of scholars with disabilities and multilingual learners
- Experience teaching and/or coordinating various programs.
- Ability to work effectively in a classroom setting with high school level scholars
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Effective, active listening skills.
- Organizational, creative and problem-solving skills.
Essential Job Functions:
- Support the safety, welfare, and supervision of students at all times while on school premises or engaged in school-sponsored activities; serve as a mandated reporter, promptly reporting any suspected abuse or neglect in accordance with state laws and school policy.
- Model and uphold the School’s Code of Conduct, core values, and professional standards as outlined in the Employee Handbook; maintain appropriate, respectful, and professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain regular, reliable and punctual attendance according to the school’s established schedule, including special events, meetings, and required professional development sessions.
- Demonstrate sufficient mobility and stamina to move throughout the school building
- Engage in work that requires frequent standing, walking, and occasional light lifting (up to 25 pounds).
- Perform duties in various classroom and school environments, including outdoor supervision as needed.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment.
