Required Qualifications (Labor & Delivery Nurse)
- Minimum 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (active clinical L&D skills)
- Previous travel nursing experience required (travel nurse assignments preferred)
- Active Massachusetts RN license (must be in hand at submission)
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Beginner required
- AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced certifications preferred
- Cerner EHR experience preferred but not required
- COVID-19 vaccine required (no exemptions); flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
Core Responsibilities (L&D RN)
- Provide high-quality, family-centered maternal and newborn care in a 15-bed Labor & Delivery unit
- Conduct maternal and fetal assessments, including external and internal fetal monitoring and fetal heart rate interpretation
- Manage labor interventions: IV therapy, infusion pumps, medication administration (oxytocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives) and emergency interventions
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, and postpartum recovery; support early newborn care and stabilization
- Provide newborn support: APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, hypoglycemia screening, routine newborn assessments, and parent education
- Use Omnicell medication system and SBAR communication for safe medication administration and handoffs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (OB physicians, anesthesia, PT, respiratory therapy, radiology, social services, phlebotomy, rapid response, interpretation services, unit secretary)
- Maintain accurate documentation, follow infection control and PPE protocols, and support breastfeeding/lactation and discharge teaching
Preferred Skills & Keywords
- Experience with maternal-newborn care, fetal monitoring, postpartum nursing, and newborn stabilization
- Comfortable in emergency OB situations and perinatal clinical workflows
- Strong communication skills, teamwork, and patient education focus
