Seasonal Camp Nurse

Camp Bauercrest
Amesbury, MA

Job Description

Job Description

Position Summary:

Are you a skilled, compassionate nurse looking to make a real impact this summer? At Camp Bauercrest, your medical expertise is at the very heart of our camp experience. We know nursing skills are in high demand nationwide, and we deeply value the dedication and professionalism you bring. Whether you’re looking for a full-summer commitment or a shorter stay, we’re eager to work with you to ensure our campers and staff receive the highest standard of care.

As Camp Nurse, you’ll provide expert medical care in a dynamic, outdoor setting—assessing, treating, and supporting kids and staff through everything from routine check-ups to urgent health needs. Beyond clinical care, you’ll become a trusted presence in our camp community, building relationships, partnering with families, and helping every camper feel safe, healthy, and ready for adventure.

What You’ll Do:

  • Deliver Top-Notch Medical Care: Provide quality care for the health and wellbeing of our campers and staff, responding to everything from minor injuries to urgent medical needs with professionalism and empathy.
  • Champion Wellness: Administer daily medications, monitor chronic conditions, and respond to health emergencies with calm expertise.
  • Maintain Medical Records: Keep accurate, up-to-date health documentation in compliance with American Camp Association (ACA) standards.
  • Ensure Health Center Coverage: Work with fellow nurses to provide 24/7 Health Center coverage on a rotating basis, so campers and staff always have support.
  • Open and Close the Health Center: Establish and maintain inventory, organize supplies, and ensure everything is ready for the start and end of camp.
  • Lead Health Education: Educate campers and staff on hygiene, safety, and wellness—empowering our community to make healthy choices every day.
  • Partner with Parents: Communicate proactively with families about camper health, medication needs, and any medical concerns, ensuring a true partnership in care.
  • Follow Protocols: Respond to health calls and emergencies with confidence, following established camp protocols.
  • Support Camp Operations: Make appointments with local providers, manage first aid kits, and bridge the gap between basic care and emergency response.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Be ready to jump in wherever your skills are needed to keep camp running smoothly.

Why This Role is a Game-Changer for You:

  • Impactful Care: Make a real difference in the lives of campers and staff, supporting their health and happiness all summer long.
  • Professional Growth: Build experience in pediatric, emergency, and community health in a unique, fast-paced environment.
  • Community Connection: Become a trusted figure in a vibrant camp family, forming relationships that last beyond the summer.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work alongside passionate professionals dedicated to creating a safe, joyful, and inclusive camp experience.
  • Flexible Scheduling: We’re open to full-summer or shorter commitments—let us know what works for you!

What We’re Looking For:

  • Massachusetts RN or LPN, licensed to practice in the state.
  • Camp dates: 6/15/2025 – 8/12/2026 (flexible for shorter stays).
  • Pediatric or camp nursing experience preferred.
  • Confident managing health forms, paperwork, and medication systems.
  • Enjoys working with kids and staff ages 7–24.
  • Hard-working, enthusiastic, and committed to camper safety and wellbeing.
  • Adaptable and comfortable living in a camp setting.
  • Excellent communicator—able to connect with campers, staff, and parents.
  • Skilled at originating, updating, and monitoring healthcare plans and records.
  • Decisive and proactive when it comes to healthcare and emergencies.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required.

Perks & Compensation:

  • Competitive seasonal salary consistent with ACA camping nurse salaries.
  • Room and board included.
  • All the lake views, fresh air, and camp camaraderie you could ask for.
  • A chance to make a lasting impact in a fun, rewarding setting.

About Camp Bauercrest:
