• Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)
• Location: Beverly, MA (01915) – North Shore Boston healthcare jobs
• Facility: Ambulatory Surgery Center
• Employment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 3, 2026
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Day Shift, 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM start), Monday–Friday
• Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $3450–$3540

Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts RN license required
• BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
• CNOR certification preferred for perioperative nursing jobs
• Completion of accredited RNFA education and supervised clinical component
• Minimum 2-3 years of recent operating room RN experience
• Demonstrated clinical competency as an RN First Assistant (hemostasis, suturing, retracting, tissue handling)
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work collaboratively in a clinical team
• Flu vaccine required for new staff starting after September 2 (no declinations accepted)
• Local candidates not accepted for this travel nursing job
• Cannot have worked perm/travel/PRN for any Beth Israel facility within the past 6 months

RNFA Job Responsibilities

• Deliver perioperative nursing care in compliance with hospital policies, Massachusetts Board of Nursing regulations, and ANA standards
• Serve as a clinical role model and ensure adherence to best practices and protocols
• Collaborate with the surgical and perioperative team to optimize patient flow and quality of care
• Advocate for patient autonomy, dignity, confidentiality, and rights throughout the surgical process
• Provide expert first assistance to surgeons, including hemostasis, suturing, retracting, and safe use of surgical instruments
• Participate in quality improvement and assurance initiatives within the ambulatory surgery center
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, understanding legal implications of charting
• Respond effectively in emergency or crisis situations, prioritizing patient safety and needs
