Grant Project Manager
General Summary of Position:
The Grant Project Manager is responsible for providing support with all aspects of grant administration, including pre and post award management, resource management, and reporting to Principal Investigators within the Gerontology Institute within the Manning College of Nursing and Health Sciences.
The Grant Project Manager works directly with Principal Investigators on matters involving preparing and submitting grants, monitoring and managing grant accounts, payroll, and purchasing. This includes activities such as record keeping within active accounts, creating requisitions and monitoring purchase orders, entering hourly payroll hours, working with Human Resources for hires/rehires of employees, planning for fiscal accounts and preparing fiscal reports. The Grant Project Manager, will engage and pre- and post-award management, and liaison with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP). This role carries out this work using University systems including Kuali, Summit, ByWays and other software products.
The Grant Project Manager works in direct collaboration with, the Director of Finance, Grants and Operations, who leads all grant and fiscal activities within the Gerontology Institute and serves as the primary liaison to ORSP.
Examples of Duties:
- Meets regularly with Principal Investigators regarding day-to-day activities with grant submission, payroll, and purchasing.
- Meets regularly with Director of Finance, Grants and Operations regarding day-to-day activities with grant submission, payroll, and purchasing.
- Responsible for entering hours into HR system for grant funded hourly students and non-students, on a weekly basis.
- May assist Director of Finance with Electronic Person Action Form (Epaf) in hires and rehires for grant funded hourly student and non-student employees into Humans and Resources.
- Assist Directors to prepare Gerontology Institute reports for annual department review.
- Administers all purchasing requests into Buyways system for all office and grant activities.
- Responsible for purchases using a Bank Card if purchases as not admissible in Buyways.
- Assist with Gift card processes and purchases.
- Assist in tracking and monitoring expenditures using RTF funds.
- Oversee travel and out of pocket expenses for reimbursement, manages and reconciles the Bank card within Concur.
- May act as a delegate for faculty, staff and student employees within Concur.
Minimum Qualifications:
- B.A. in Accounting or commensurate experience required. Five or more years of experience in College or University research environment required. Working experience with HR Direct, Buyways, PeopleSoft Production and Financials, Summit, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, and Wiser system.
- Knowledge of sponsored project financial reporting procedures.
- Knowledge of Federal Regulations including OMB Circulars
- Expert knowledge of computer software, including word processing, spreadsheet and database management software. *Strong interpersonal skills
- Patience and ability to communicate rules and requirements to principal investigators.
- Advance skills in the use of electronic grant systems such as National Science Foundation, National Institute of Health, Research.gov and Grants.gov, Assist and eRA commons.

This is an exempt union position. This is a grant funded position with a current end date of July 31, 2026 subject to renewal annually through July 21, 2030. The position will continue through all funded years.
