We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Waltham, Massachusetts. In this role, you will contribute to operational accounting tasks, including accounts payable, journal entries, and maintaining fixed assets. This position requires advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to adapt quickly to organizational systems and processes.
Responsibilities:• Handle operational accounting tasks such as accounts payable, journal entries, and fixed asset management.
• Prepare and review balance sheets to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Utilize advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and accounting functions.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth financial operations and reporting.
• Support corporate tax-related tasks, including preparation and filing of tax returns.
• Manage sales tax processes and ensure timely submissions.
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure all entries are properly recorded.
• Learn and adapt to organizational systems and processes with provided training.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.• Proven experience in operational accounting, including accounts payable and journal entries.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with corporate tax and sales tax processes.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger management.
• Ability to prepare and review balance sheets accurately.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn new systems and adapt to organizational processes.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
