INTERNSHIP: Mechanical Aerospace Engineering

The SIMULIA Validation Team is an integral part of the SIMULIA Fluids R&D organization, a world-class group of researchers in the fields of Lattice Boltzmann and Turbulence Modeling. SIMULIA software simulation products impact how Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is used in many industrial settings worldwide. We work on the verification and validation of CFD products for their accuracy, robustness, and performance for CFD applications in ground transportation, aerospace, oil-gas, etc.

We are looking for a Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering students specifically ( Software Validation Engineers PhD Student in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering)to join us as we improve aerodynamic simulation efficiency and accuracy. This is a paid six-month internship/co-op, to begin in the summer of 2026. This position is based at the Dassault Systèmes Office, Waltham, MA.

As a Software Validation Engineer, you will be part of a critical team that is driving the development of new simulation capabilities. We'll provide you with the steps, tools, and leadership that will help advance your career at Dassault Systèmes and help our customers reach their goals.

In this role, you will:

• Perform validation and verification tasks of SIMULIA's emerging simulation technologies, some of which include setting up simulations, results evaluation, and post-processing using Python scripting.

• Assess the numerical accuracy and stability of new features in SIMULIA's software.

• Interact with multiple teams in the organization to report results and support problem-solving efforts.

• Improve the efficiency of the validation workflow on 3DXcloud.

• Help build an auto-reviewing system that can evaluate the processed images and results using machine learning algorithms.

• Experience performing CFD simulations
• Proficient in Python
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux, Experience with Shell scripting
• Experience in Validation & Verification of CFD products is a plus
• Experience in machine learning is a plus
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is essential
