Maintenance Working Supervisor

MAINTENANCE WORKING SUPERVISOR : The Gloucester Housing Authority seeks a highly motivated professional with a Construction Supervisors License to provide supervision and support to the maintenance mechanic staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide supervision and training to a staff of 7 employees engaged in skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled work assignments. The incumbent will also be expected to complete work assignments. Availability by phone should the on-call staff need advisement. Areas of expertise include plumbing, electrical, mechanical, flooring, snow removal, grounds maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, and painting.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a Construction Supervisor’s License. And if not already certified, will need to acquire 1A/2C Hoisting License through GHA funded training within one year of hiring. Should have a broad range of experience in several of these areas at a skill level normally required of a journeyman or higher. Previous Supervisory experience highly desirable. When on 24 hr. call must always be within a 30-minute drive of the GHA developments. Candidates must obtain a passing grade on a GHA exam. Must be capable of providing on- call emergency coverage approx. every 6 weeks on a rotation basis. Must be in good physical health, possess a valid MA Driver’s License, have reliable transportation and be able to lift 70 lb objects. Trade licenses/certifications are highly desirable. 40 hrs/wk, excellent benefits (Health, Dental, Gloucester Retirement Pension), AFSCME (union) Salary: $45.64/hr. plus an on-call stipend.
