Job Description

About the Role:

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate and high-quality care to patients within healthcare and social assistance settings. This position focuses on assisting patients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity while supporting the nursing staff in clinical tasks. The CNA serves as a critical link between patients and healthcare providers by observing and reporting changes in patient conditions promptly. Through direct patient interaction, the CNA contributes to the overall well-being and recovery of individuals under their care. Ultimately, this role is essential in fostering a supportive and healing environment that meets both the physical and emotional needs of patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of a state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant training program.
  • Current and valid CNA certification/license in the state of employment.
  • Basic understanding of patient care procedures and safety standards.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a CNA in a healthcare or long-term care facility.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional training or certification in specialized care areas such as geriatrics or rehabilitation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, eating, and mobility.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
  • Provide basic patient care under the supervision of nursing staff, including turning and repositioning bedridden patients to prevent pressure ulcers.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for patients by following infection control protocols and safety guidelines.

Skills:

The required skills enable the CNA to provide attentive and precise patient care, ensuring that daily living needs are met with empathy and professionalism. Effective communication skills are essential for interacting with patients who may have diverse needs and for collaborating with nursing staff to relay important health information. Attention to detail and observational skills are critical for monitoring patient conditions and identifying any changes that require medical attention. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with electronic health records, enhance the CNA's ability to document care accurately and efficiently. Additionally, teamwork and adaptability skills support a harmonious work environment and improve overall patient outcomes.
