Amergis Healthcare Staffing is proud to partner with a respected collaborative in Wilmington, MA to support specialized school-based services for the remainder of the school year and ESY (July 6-July 31). We are currently seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide direct treatment, evaluations, and collaborative support within a highly structured program serving students with intensive special needs. This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced interdisciplinary team committed to helping students reach their fullest potential.

Position Overview

As the school-based OT, you will support elementary and middle school students with multiple disabilities, Autism, and complex communication needs. Program focuses on developing communication, academic readiness, community participation, life skills, and social-emotional skill building.

Location: Wilmington, MA

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Length: Remainder of School Year + ESY (July 6-July 31)

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 2:45 PM

Hours: Full school day

Pay Rate: Up to $60/hr (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate students to determine OT needs and develop individualized treatment plans

• Provide OT services using an integrated therapeutic model within the classroom

• Deliver engaging 1:1 and small-group treatment sessions

• Collect data and track progress toward IEP goals; adjust interventions as needed

• Support student independence, motor skills, sensory regulation, and communication

• Attend IEP meetings and collaborate with teachers, caregivers, and related service providers

• Complete comprehensive written evaluations and progress reports

• Provide consultative support to staff, families, and collateral providers

• May accompany students to home visits or outside evaluations if needed

• Assist with general school duties (e.g., lunch supervision, personal care support)

• Maintain professional knowledge through ongoing development

Qualifications

• Active Massachusetts OT license

• Experience in special education settings preferred

• Comfortable supporting students with Autism, multiple disabilities, and behavioral needs

• Ability to work with physically and verbally aggressive students

• Able to lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs and transition between floor and standing positions

• Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills

• Familiarity with communication devices preferred
