The Town of Falmouth is seeking responsible and motivated individuals age 16 and older to join our Beach Team as Beach Clerks. This is an opportunity to spend the summer at the center of Town beach operations and be part of a supportive team dedicated to providing beach access and facilitating residents’ and visitors’ enjoyment of Falmouth’s coastline.

Seasonal Beach Clerks attend a mandatory evening orientation (tentatively scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026) and work through Labor Day. Some Seasonal Beach Clerks may start working as early as Monday, May 4, 2026. These positions typically work four days (30 hours) per week from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., including weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Applicants who cannot commit to a full 4-day per week schedule are still encouraged to apply and should note their availability in their application.

Under the direction of the Seasonal Beach Clerk Supervisor, members of the Beach Clerk team:

  • Verify that the customer qualifies to purchase a beach parking permit sticker;
  • Receive, reconcile, and account for all beach parking permit sticker money;
  • Maintain the beach parking permit sticker inventory;Answer the Bathhouse office phone and provide information to customers;
  • Take water wheelchair reservation requests; and
  • Perform any other related work as needed.

Seasonal Beach Clerks primarily work out of the Ellen T. Mitchell Bathhouse, located at 56 Surf Drive.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age and be able to pass a pre-employment CORI criminal background check.
The successful candidate has excellent customer service, computer, and problem-solving skills, has the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and applies the enforcement of the rules and regulations for beach sticker eligibility for taxpayers, residents, and visitors consistently and impartially.

Starting Hourly Rate: $18.27/hour for the first season of employment, with opportunities for advancement along the 5-step wage schedule in subsequent seasons. This is a seasonal, non-benefit-eligible position.

Eligible employees may also receive a $200 retention bonus paid in the second paycheck in August if they:

  • Attend the mandatory orientation and begin work on or before June 27, 2026;
  • Commit to at least 3 days (22.5 hours) per week;
  • Work or arrange coverage for all scheduled shifts through August 17, 2026; and
  • Provide proof of CPR certification by Friday, July 10, 2026.
