Special Education Nurse

We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Special Education Nurse to support students in a school-based setting. This is a great opportunity for a licensed nurse with pediatric experience who is passionate about working with children and making a meaningful impact in an educational environment.

Position Details

• Location: Lowell, MA

• Start Date: July 1, 2026 - July 31, 2026

• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 20 hours per week

• Pay Rate: $50/hour, commensurate with experience and licensure

Role Overview

The Special Education Nurse will provide essential medical support and nursing care to students with special needs, ensuring a safe and healthy school environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, student-focused, and comfortable collaborating with educational and clinical staff.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Active Massachusetts Nursing License

• Pediatric nursing experience required

• Experience working in a school or special education setting preferred

• Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team

Minimum Requirements:

• Current RN or LPN license in the state of employment

• Bachelor's Degree, preferred

• School Nurse Certification as required by state or contract

• One year of school nursing, public health or pediatric experience, preferred

• Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

• Current CPR if applicable

• TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

• Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age
